Attorney Amy Denton Mayer

Amy Denton Mayer
Amy Denton Mayer brings over 22 years of experience in restructuring, focusing on representing a wide range of parties, including debtors, assignors, committees, creditors, trustees, assignees, purchasers, and others involved in bankruptcy cases under Chapters 7, 11, 12, and 13, Florida assignments for the benefit of creditors, and out of court workouts. She has gained significant expertise working with real estate developers, homebuilders, contractors, medical practices and physicians, agribusinesses, independent and franchised restaurant chains, food service companies, and business entrepreneurs.
While her primary passion lies in advocating for clients and guiding them through legal challenges both in and out of court, Mrs. Mayer also serves as a Subchapter V Trustee in small business cases filed under the Small Business Reorganization Act. Appointed by the Office of the United States Trustee in February 2020, she has been appointed in over 125 cases—more than any other Trustee in the country. In this role, her main responsibility is to help resolve disputes between debtors, creditors, and other stakeholders, while also ensuring the efficient and cost-effective confirmation of a plan. While the Subchapter V Trustee position involves additional statutory and fiduciary duties, Mrs. Mayer particularly enjoys collaborating with all parties to find creative solutions that resolve financial and legal issues and prevent lengthy and costly litigation.
Mrs. Mayer also acts as a court-appointed examiner, investigating issues highlighted by the bankruptcy court and reporting her findings to the court and relevant parties. Additionally, she serves as a post-confirmation fiduciary focused on maximizing estate value for creditors. Her responsibilities include (i) investigating and evaluating potential causes of action, (ii) pursuing legal claims, and (iii) distributing funds to creditors.
