On November 16, 2018, culminating nearly a decade of contentious litigation in state court and bankruptcy court, the Honorable Catherine Peek McEwen of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida, Tampa Division, entered an order confirming the Chapter 11 plan filed by Townsend H. Porter, Jr. Mr. Porter is a retired technology executive. His financial issues stemmed largely from substantial Florida real estate investments that failed following the collapse of the real estate market in 2008. More than $20 million in claims were filed in Mr. Porter’s case. Following nearly 9 months of litigation with a creditor asserting a charging lien on Mr. Porter’s minority interest in a family-owned vineyard and winery in Napa, California, the parties successfully mediated their disputes which paved the way for a consensual confirmation. Edward J. Peterson, III and Amy Denton Harris led the firm’s representation of the Debtor.
